The municipal library is moving: the rue Jeannotte building will be closed for good as of May 5

The Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion is pleased to announce that its municipal library is about to take a major step forward with its move to the municipal hub. Residents will soon be able to enjoy modern, welcoming facilities in the brand new building at 2000, rue Émile-Bouchard, which is due to open officially on May 23.

To allow the collections to be moved and the new premises to be fitted out, the library at 51 rue Jeannotte will close its doors for good at 5 p.m. on May 4. There will therefore be a complete interruption of services from 5 to 22 May inclusive, with the exception of certain digital services, such as document renewal, access to digital resources and suggested purchases. It will not be possible to reserve documents online or by telephone during this period.

Please note that the document chute in rue Jeannotte will be out of service during the closure. However, users wishing to return documents may do so at the document chute at the municipal hub, on the car park side, during this period.

“The library is without doubt the most visited municipal building. More than 450 people a day come through its doors to borrow an average of 880 documents! The new library, with its two floors and areas adapted to our different clienteles, will attract even more visitors. And that's not counting the Lab, which will be much larger and for which we have purchased additional state-of-the-art equipment. We can't wait to welcome our first users to 2000 rue Émile-Bouchard,” says Mayor Guy Pilon.

Subscriptions

Anyone wishing to subscribe to the library is strongly encouraged to do so before the library closes on May 4, during opening hours: Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is important to keep the password they receive, as it will be required to use the self-service loan terminals in the new library.

Programming

Due to the move, all activities scheduled between May 5 and 25 have been cancelled, with the exception of a few for which participants have been notified directly. Spring programming will resume as normal from May 26, at the municipal hub.

Open house at the new library

To mark this new chapter, the public will be invited to attend an open house on May 23, 24 and 25. This will be an ideal opportunity to discover the facilities and services on offer. Full details of this event will be announced shortly.
