Tree planting

As part of Tree and Forests Month and Quebec Intergenerational Week, the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion, in collaboration with the Association Panda de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, is organizing a tree-planting event at Maison-Valois Park on May 24, starting at 5:30 pm.

This activity aims to bring together people of all ages and backgrounds around a common goal: protecting the environment. The planting will have a positive impact on both urban biodiversity and the fight against climate change.

We recommend that you wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Don't forget your water bottle!

Chasses aux trésors

Since 2020, the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion has been organizing the Chasse aux trésors to give a second life to objects. Citizens are invited to drop off furniture or other objects at the curb that they wish to give to the next person. On a first-come, first-served basis, interested parties will be able to take possession of these treasures, free of charge.

The Chasse aux trésors  take place in May and September. Citizens wishing to dispose of items can drop them off at the curb at 8 a.m. This year, no registration with the City is required. Participants will simply have to place a sign indicating "To Donate" next to their items.

It is important to note that all items not collected must be picked up by 9 p.m. on Sunday. In case of rain, the decision to take the items outside or not is up to the participants. Thank you for your understanding.

Household hazardous waste and unprotected sharps will not be allowed to be displayed at the curb during the event, which will take place rain or shine.

Dates in 2024:

  • May 25 and 26
  • September 28 and 29

Environmental awareness officers

Every year, from May to August, environmental awareness officers travel the streets of the City to answer citizens' environmental questions. They educate, inform and advise the public on environmental protection, in addition to leading various environmental awareness activities.

Réparothon

The Réparothon is held every year in October. This free activity offers citizens the opportunity to discuss and repair various objects. In 2024, the Réparothon will be held on October 26, between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Centre multisports André-Chagnon.

The Réparothon will be a great opportunity to give a second life to your old clothes, whether by patching them up or giving them a new look. In collaboration with Le Lab, you'll be able to personalize them using digital printing. To do so, you'll need to bring your own garments or pieces of fabric, along with their images in digital format on a USB key. It will also be possible to have your broken books repaired at the Vaudreuil-Dorion library kiosk.

You can also dispose of old batteries, corks and pens at the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion booth.

Conference: Avoiding obsolescence
as part of Écodécouvertes

By Mélissa de La Fontaine, COOP INCITA

Tuesday, October 22, 7 p.m.
Public Library

Who hasn't faced a case of obsolescence? A device that seems to give up the ghost the day after the warranty expires. A perfectly good cell phone that just doesn't seem to answer anymore. And that new, trendy sweater we've been buying for ourselves in spite of a full wardrobe! In this conference, you'll have the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the many facets of obsolescence, and discover the ways in which we can be part of the solution!
