Petition: Revision of flood zone mapping
The Quebec government may soon adopt a new flood zone map, affecting thousands of homes in Vaudreuil-Dorion. This decision could have serious consequences for many citizens.
Faced with this situation, a group of citizens has mobilized to call for a review of the process. The Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion supports this initiative and encourages the entire population to act now.

About the revision of flood zone mapping
On November 5, an information session organized by the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion was held in the auditorium of École secondaire des Échos. At this meeting, representatives of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal (CMM) presented an outline of the proposed regulations and their potential impact on affected homes. Preliminary flood zone maps, produced by the CMM in accordance with the Quebec government's methodological guide, were published on September 30. This initiative is part of the public consultation on the project to modernize the regulatory framework for water environments, including flood zones, announced in June 2024 by the Minister of the Environment, the Fight against Climate Change, Wildlife and Parks. According to these new maps, the number of buildings affected is 7.5 times higher than the previous mapping, representing approximately 9.7% of all buildings in Vaudreuil-Dorion.

All owners affected by this provisional mapping were invited to the information session. For those who were unable to attend, a replay of the session is available.
