Lumin'Art: art and light meet for a spectacular fifth edition at Le 405 park

The fifth edition of the artistic Lumin'Art will be unveiled to the public this Friday, December 6 at 7 p.m. in Le 405 park. Under the theme of Mutation, the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion has worked with artists, students, seniors, musicians and scenographers to create a spectacular display for the public this winter.

The exhibition features 56 new works, 39 by Vaudreuil-Soulanges artists and 17 by students from Vaudreuil-Dorion schools and seniors' residences, under the theme Mutation, which explores change, conversion and evolution. These creations join the Christmas baubles, giant lanterns, lighted barrels and bubbles of recent years.

For this year's event, Vaudreuil-Dorion artist John McRae was commissioned to design and implement the scenography. As artistic director, he wanted to mix and match structures from recent years, bursting them across the site to create a luminous, interactive trail. Another new feature: an original soundtrack was composed by four young people from the Arts-études - musique program at Cité-des-Jeunes high school, to bring unity to the exhibition.

“Since 2020, Lumin'Art's mission has been to bring light to Le 405 Park as the holiday season approaches. The exhibition gets more and more impressive as new works are added every year. In addition to our many artists, we are also fortunate to be able to count on the involvement of several teachers who create works with their students. This year's edition is sure to be full of surprises for our citizens,” says Chloé Marcil, Head of Culture and Community Life at the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion.

Programming

The site will come alive every Friday between now and Christmas. In addition to the grand illumination, on December 6, visitors will be invited to enter the Caravane Mozaïk to view a slide show revealing the behind-the-scenes of the 2024 edition of Lumin'Art. On December 13, the Sainte-Madeleine choir will perform its now traditional Christmas show at 7 pm. The concert will be followed by a special Christmas karaoke inside the Caravane. Finally, on December 20, the Cercle de conteurs du Haut-Saint-Laurent will be offering a fireside evening of storytelling and carols. Storytellers Gaëtane Breton and Robert Payant will give three performances, at 6 pm, 7 pm and 8 pm. Fireplaces and hot drinks will keep visitors warm on all three evenings.

The Lumin'Art exhibition will be open to visitors daily, from 4 pm to 10 pm, until February 16. This year, its unveiling coincides with the Courrier des lutins, to be held on December 7 and 8, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the Parc de la Maison-Valois.
