Ecoprojects Community Fund: Citizens and organizations invited to submit their projects by February 28th

The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion is pleased to announce the fourth edition of the Ecoprojects Community Fund. Until February 28, Vaudreuil-Dorion residents, non-profit organizations and public institutions are invited to submit an environmental project that they wish to implement and that could benefit the community.

Successful initiatives will be awarded a grant of up to $5,000. The Ecoprojects Community Fund is part of the 2020 > 2025 Habité par ma ville strategic plan, which promotes citizen participation. It aims to encourage initiatives that promote the environment and its protection, in line with the themes of the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion’s environmental policy, i.e. protection of water resources, urban agriculture, residual materials, adaptation to climate change and biodiversity and natural environments.

In 2024, three organizations were granted financial assistance to carry out their projects thanks to this fund: L’Atelier paysan (Garden Brigade in the parks), the environmental committee of the Papillon-Bleu elementary school, Saint-Jean-Baptiste pavilion (Improving waste sorting) and the Brind’Amour elementary school (Planting mature trees).

“For several years now, we have been committed to promoting citizen participation. That’s why we’ve set up the Participatory Budget, which has both a general and a youth component, as well as the Ecoprojects Community Fund, aimed specifically at environmental projects. A total of $100,000 is allocated annually to citizen initiatives. I strongly encourage our residents to take advantage of this opportunity to propose projects that could benefit the community,” said Mayor Guy Pilon.

Following are a few examples of projects that could be submitted under the Ecoprojects Community Fund:

  • Development of pollinator gardens, urban forests, forest gardens and tree-planting programs across a network of connected plots of land;
  • Workshops on environmental themes (e.g. residual materials, zero waste, etc.);
  • Clean-up projects;
  • Financing of an environmental educational program (e.g. cycling enthusiasts, Scol’ERE carbon exchange program);
  • Organization of an environmental conference or event;
  • Purchase of a community composter;
  • Organization of workshops dedicated to the self-repair of broken appliances to encourage zero waste in the community;
  • Purchase of zero-waste equipment for a public institution or non-profit organization;
  • Implementation of a bike-sharing system;
  • Installations that reduce environmental pollution (e.g. rain gardens).
