Inauguration of Fire Station 11 – De Lotbinière

The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion officially inaugurated its fire station located at 85 Route de Lotbinière in the Dorion sector today, in the presence of Mayors Guy Pilon - City of Vaudreuil-Dorion, and Peter Zytynsky - Municipality of Pointe-des-Cascades, as well as several elected municipal officials, members of the Fire Department and various guests. This project, whose construction work began in March 2022, received $4,500,000 in financial assistance from the Government of Quebec, which comes from the RÉCIM program (Réfection et construction des infrastructures municipales).

"This station is now the second main station serving the Vaudreuil-Dorion territory and will be staffed by on-duty firefighters 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Its location will also make it possible to serve the Municipality of Pointe-des-Cascades. I would also like to highlight the excellent collaborative work between the cities of Vaudreuil-Dorion and Pointe-des-Cascades. This intermunicipal agreement made it possible to obtain a considerable financial contribution from the Government of Quebec. This major investment confirms the importance that City Council attaches to the revitalization of the Harwood – De Lotbinière sector and to the safety and protection of citizens," said Mayor Guy Pilon.

The work consisted of demolishing the building that was originally located at 85 Route de Lotbinière to make way for a new fire station. The new building occupies an area of approximately 1,900 m2 spread over two levels. The ground floor includes a garage area with doors, a locker room, four offices, a room for training purposes and emergency measures, as well as storage rooms. The second floor features a multipurpose room, two bunkrooms, a dining area, a rest area and a kitchen.

The total project costs, including demolition, construction, professional services, temporary housing for the fire station and furniture, amount to $14.9 million. In addition to the grant from the Government of Quebec, the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion will receive $2.6 million from the TECQ program (Programme de la taxe sur l’essence et de la contribution du Québec 2019-2024, as well as $58,000 in financial assistance from Énergir (Energy efficiency program – Efficient construction and renovation component). This represents a total of nearly $7.2 million in financial assistance.

The construction project for the new fire station was designed by Les architectes Labonté-Marcil in collaboration with the engineering firms FNX-Innov and CBTEC, and the landscape architects at Rousseau Lefebvre. The building was built by Espace Construction.
