Unveiling of the results of the 2024 Fleurons du Québec classification: Vaudreuil-Dorion receives 4 Fleurons!

The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion was awarded its official 4-flower certificate at the 19th unveiling of the horticultural classification of municipalities assessed in 2024, held at the Salle Théâtre La Scène in Saint Hyacinthe. Thanks to its constant efforts over the past three years, the municipality was able to retain its 4 “fleurons”. This classification is awarded to municipalities that demonstrate excellent horticultural beautification in most areas.

According to the Corporation des Fleurons du Québec, this 4-Floweron status is due to the quality of the mosaics, the impeccable condition of public roads and bicycle paths, community initiatives, and the perfect scores obtained by certain parks and municipal buildings. In particular, the evaluator praised the landscaping of Le 405 and Félix-Leclerc parks, as well as Maison Valois, Opticentre St-Jean-Baptiste and Centre communautaire Jean-Marc-Ducharme. These inviting places illustrate the care the City takes with its public spaces. The abundance and diversity of green spaces remain major assets for Vaudreuil-Dorion, which makes it a point of honour to maintain and enhance them.

“It was in 2015 that we were awarded our 4 fleurons for the first time. For nearly 10 years, we’ve maintained these high standards thanks to the hard work of our Public Works Department teams. They ensure a pleasant, green and well-maintained environment for our residents, as well as creative landscaping projects at various locations throughout the territory. I would like to thank and congratulate all those who take care of our spaces on a daily basis, and thanks to whom we receive not only this official recognition from the Corporation des Fleurons du Québec, but also many positive comments from our citizens”, expressed Mayor Guy Pilon.

Fleurons are awarded for a period of three years, and are accompanied by a professional assessment report suggesting areas for improvement in order to further enhance municipal greening. Classifiers visit 60% of each municipality’s territory and evaluate all sites in public view, including public, institutional, commercial and private sites. Sustainable development initiatives (composting, community gardening, tree conservation, etc.) are also taken into account.
